Water filters or purification tablets during an emergency?

Clean drinking water is essential during an emergency. It’s the number one thing you absolutely need to stay alive.
I am fascinated by this subject for a long time now, and I tried different methods. Ofc you can always try to make a water filter yourself or you could cook your water during an emergency, but it’s always easy to have a good way of filtering it by hand.
My 2 most fav options when it comes to filtering your water are a waterfilter of purification tablets. Both are handy in their own way.
First of all, a water filter is absolutely convenient. Not all filters have the same capacity and filter everything out. While there are lots of basic filters that are not that expensive, my preference is a Berkey water filter. It’s a bit higher in cost, but it does a REALLY good job! Almost all dirt, viruses, bacteria and pollution will be filtered out of your water when you use a Berkey filter. It is by far the best one on the market. The downside however, is that during an emergency, you sometimes will need to leave your place of residence. In that case I would always try to take my Berkey filter with me. However this will not always be possible and that is when purification tablets come in handy too. The micropur classic tablets from Katadyn are my fav. They are small and easy to take with you + they also do a really good job in purifying your water. The downside on this one is that your water tastes a little different than normal, so I would always prefer a regular filter instead.
